ARA is a benevolence society of the highest order. It operates independent of any government agency and serves the most noble of causes - demonstrating that the United States of America is indeed, a great society, by honoring our senior citizens.
The federal tax code allows tax deductible dollars to be given to ARA, and then given to senior citizens who pay no income tax on the gift. Thus, untaxed dollars flow to and from donors to recipients.
Unlike government sponsored entitlement programs, ARA is able to seek out the most needy of our seniors. We are able to raise their income above the poverty level, restoring dignity and self respect while replacing despair with joy.
Is keeping our seniors out of poverty not the very least we can do, to show honor and respect for American seniors? Is this not what makes a society great?
